Human Rights in China (HRIC), a leading international Chinese human rights NGO with offices in New York, Hong Kong, and Brussels, is seeking a committed, energetic, detail-oriented professional to fill the position of Senior IT Administrator in our New York office.


About HRIC
HRIC was founded by Chinese students and scholars in March 1989. Its mission is to promote international human rights and advance the institutional protection of these rights in the People's Republic of China.

Responsibilities
The Senior IT Administrator will be responsible for planning and implementing the ongoing IT strategy for the organization, and proactively ensuring the stability and security of the network. S/he will maintain the IT infrastructure for HRIC's New York office, including the LAN (local area network), workstations, servers, e-mail systems, system-wide backup and recovery, firewalls, printers, etc. The Senior IT Administrator will also support services shared by the Brussels and Hong Kong offices as appropriate.

The Senior IT Administrator will directly resolve workstation and network issues, and collaborate with outsourced consultants as necessary. S/he will assist in procurement of hardware and software, licensing, and renewals. S/he will also be responsible for maintaining documentation of system procedures and configurations.

The Senior IT Administrator will work closely with staff in all of HRIC's offices.


Qualifications
Candidates must be committed to HRIC's mission and to working in a high-energy, collaborative NGO that insists on the highest professional and public-interest standards.
  • Technical:

    • The candidate must have

      • Demonstrated, hands-on experience working with enterprise-level networks;

      • Significant experience in maintaining workstations and servers, Microsoft technologies, networking, firewalls, VPNs;

      • Ability to work independently or manage consultants in resolving complex network issues;

      • Ability to work effectively and comfortably with end users in troubleshooting minor help desk issues.

    • The ideal candidate will have

      • Exceptional skills in IT strategy planning and project management;

      • Experience with user training, web development and Linux systems.

  • Other:

    • The candidate must be well-organized, detail-oriented, co-operative, and a self-starter who is comfortable handling multiple tasks.

    • The candidate must have excellent leadership, analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to work quickly and effectively in time sensitive situations.

    • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with a high degree of professionalism, dedication, and personal commitment.
