Three Items Related to Shi Zongwei’s Removal from His Position

June 21, 2013

Shi Zongwei, the former Deputy Director of the Department of Labor Service at Zhengzhou Yellow River Engineering Bureau —who was removed from his position because of his participation in social gatherings and posting his opinions online—released three more items relevant to his dismissal. The items are as follows: 1) an audio recording of a June 17, 2013 meeting during which Shi’s dismissal was announced, and Shi argued that the Party's decision was based solely on allegations by the police without any legal basis; he also said he would not go to the new position designated by the decision. 2) "My Supplementary Statement to My ‘Solemn Statement,’” which contains Shi’s rebuttal to the official reasons for his dismissal. In this statement, Shi says that everything he did in his life has been aboveboard, and in good conscience. 3) A June 6, 2013 letter to the Governor of Henan Province containing a document dated May 27, 2013 in which Shi offered suggestions on the management of the channel downstream of the Yellow River.
